Human Rights-

France is a multiparty constitutional democracy. There are some major human rights issues affecting this country. Overcrowded and dilapidated prisons, lengthy pretrial detention, protracted investigation and trial proceedings, restrictions on religious wear in public institutions, anti-Semitic incidents, discrimination against Muslims, societal hostility towards immigrants and Roma including "Travelers," societal violence against women, child abuse and child marriage, and trafficking in persons.
One of the major groups affected by human rights issues were prisoners. They were treated less human because of overcrowding to change this they open up seven new prisons, and want to have a capacity of 80,000 beds by 2017. There is less time spent in isolative special punishment cells and greater parole opportunities for inmates. One woman in three has been raped or abused at least once in her life. Women’s rights are key priority in France. France has been highly active in combating all forms of violence against women (sexual violence, domestic violence, and female genital mutilation, inhuman or degrading treatment) and in promoting gender equality. France actively defends and promotes women’s rights. France proposed the implementation of a new mechanism in laws and practices that discriminate against women at the Human Rights Counsel to supplement existing mechanisms.
Children are being abused in France. There have been reports of priest, gangs and there have been major court cases on this. A campaign has been launched aimed at raising awareness about child abuse and in particular encouraging children who suffer from it to speak up and get help. France participates in the One in Five Campaigns to stop sexual violence against children. France is under fire over its treatment of prisoners. There have been reports of police torture, poor conditions for the prisoners which include overcrowding and unhygienic conditions. Immigrants also experience human rights issues. They live in deprived conditions, with their children, there have also been complaints about being humiliated and abused at the hand of the police. There have been anonymous accounts by five former police officers who admitted to witnessing, and in two cases taking part in, the mistreatment and torture of suspected militants.

=Enviromental Information-

  • There are many environmental issues in France. The first one is that the coastal spaces are in very fragile balance. Cleaner refuse, heavy metals, hydrocarbons have durably damaged the fauna and the flora (seaweeds, shells, birds), as well as the oyster farming. More than half the coasts have already been urbanized. Wild coasts are gradually disappearing.
  • The second is that is water is a limited resource: on a regular basis. France hardly consumes a quarter of the water resources that can be mobilized. Drought periods raise great supply problems, but mainly increase pollution. Agriculture is the greatest water consumer. There has been an increase in irrigation systems, but also in ground water pumping systems. However, massive fertilizer and liquid manure uses are polluting a great deal of the underground waters with nitrates. Another large user of water is the E.D.F, for the nuclear power stations.
  • French forest produces only three fourths of their wooden needs. However, it suffers great threats such as acid rains, fires and the diseases.

Why France would be a nice place to relocate to

I think France would be a nice place to relocate to because it is a place I have never visited. Seeing the Alps, which soar up to 13,000 feet, is interesting to me because it might be a place for me to try hiking. The medieval buildings would be an interesting place to see in person and to find out the history about them.
The Mediterranean climate would be a nicer place to live in because it has cool winters and hot summers. I enjoy the warmer weather better than the colder weather. Since the winters are not as cold in France, it would be a more enjoyable place for me to live.
Another reason I would want to relocate to France is because of the possibilities of jobs such as tourisms, aircrafts, and perfume industry. Having a job would allow methe money to try the different pastries and foods such as, croissants, crepes, and fruits.
